Dear mystery author, First and foremost, thank you! Please know I will be thrilled to receive your story. I'm excited to see what direction you've taken on whichever fandom strikes your fancy. I included a few prompt ideas in each of my requests, but pleade don't feel bound to them if inspiration takes you elsewhere.

Things I like:
  • Witty banter
  • Competent, complex, multi-dimensional characters
  • Friendship, found family, friends-to-lovers, slow burn
  • Plot, adventures, space duels, intrigue, mysteries and spy stories
  • Thoughtful, complex, introspective, issues that aren’t black-and-white
  • Humor, whether subtle or snarky or slapstick
  • Gentle, compassionate storytelling
  • Nature, especially lakes, woods, mountain, prairies, and the night sky
  • Witty banter. Seriously, I love it so much.
  • I prefer het and usually ship canon pairings; gen is also great.
  • Drama, humor, adventure, intrigue, espionage, suspense, mystery, thriller... so many genres! I also like explorations of grief and healing, though in general I can only take so much angst. I do prefer happy endings to tragedy, but I also have a soft spot for ambiguity and bittersweet.
  • A strong sense of place. The differences between places, the little things that set someplace apart or bind people together even across languages and cultures... Whether you want to delve into worldbuilding or just give me a glimpse, I'll love it.
  • Language, linguistics, things lost in translation, the power of words
  • I do enjoy AUs, crossovers and fusions that hold true to both the spirit and setting of the original. (I'm not a fan of coffee shop, college AUs, etc.)

Things I don't like:
  • Noncon, dubcon, incest, underage, abuse, gore, torture
  • PWP, explicit sex, explicit violence, frequent use of R-rated language
  • Slash isn't my cup of tea, I'm afraid. I prefer het or gen.
  • Character bashing; completely helpless, clueless, cruel or dark characterization of canon "good guys"
  • Real-world, present-day politics. (Politics of other times, places and worlds — great! But please no in-your-face corollaries with current events. I’ve had enough of the news right now.)
  • Darkfic, unmitigated tragedy or excessive angst. If your story is sad, I'd request at least a ray of sunshine amid the clouds!

Again, this is truly meant for your information, and I hope you find it helpful. I look forward to seeing where the story takes you, and thank you again!

Crossovering Requests & Prompts

Star Wars & Harry Potter
More than anything, I really, really want to see Amilyn Holdo meet Luna Lovegood! If those characters aren’t to your taste, though, I would be very happy to see one kind of "magic" meet another. Philosophical parallels between Jedi and wizards? Comedic confusion over wands casting lumos vs. lit lightsabers? Action-packed Jedi vs. Death Eaters? The possibilities are all delightful! From the vast cast of Star Wars characters, I’d love to see anyone from any of the movies (trilogy or tie-in), any of Zahn's Thrawn books, Stackpole's and Allston's X-wing series books, or the Rebels TV show. From Harry Potter, anyone! The whole world is enchanting. (Pun totally intended.) Alternatively, if you want to do Star Wars-only, please bring Mara Jade, Thrawn, Rogues and/or Wraiths into the Sequel Trilogy!

Forever, Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey
  • I’m a sucker for Henry Morgan in Starfleet. Daily earthbound life far in the future, far-flung explorations, or intersections with an episode — there are several touching on immortality or time travel that would be especially interesting. What if Data and Guinan met Henry in 19th century San Francisco in the TNG episode “Time’s Arrow”? (“Do you remember the first time we met? Don’t be so sure.”) Or what if Henry were Voyager’s physician? Or a crewmember on the timeship Relativity, serving under Captain Braxton? He does seem uniquely qualified for that. Or if he encountered Rayna from TOS “Requiem for Methuselah”? Or what would Q make of Henry? Basically, put Henry in Starfleet, anywhere, anytime and I’ll love it.
  • Anne McCaffrey’s Ship series + ST:Voyager and/or Forever: Henry would make a fantastic brawn, don’t you think? It would be a distinct advantage for a ship to have a brawn she wouldn’t outlive. Henry and Helva could bond over a love for opera! And it would be so novel for Henry to have a partner as long-lived and as virtually indestructible as himself. Or: the possibilities for Voyager as a sentient ship are scintillating! Would Janeway or Paris be the brawn, or would a shell-person ship be crewed by the regular Voyager crew? Fusion or crossover, any combination of these characters and universes would be delightful.
  • I’d also be happy with an inter-series Star Trek crossover with any combination of Original Series, Next Generation and Voyager. My favorite characters and relationships from Voyager are Janeway/Chakotay, Janeway / or & Paris, Paris/Torres, Seven of Nine/Doctor, Seven & Naomi. From TNG, Data, LaForge, Riker, Picard/Beverly, Ro Laren, and Worf. From TOS, Spock, McCoy, Kirk and Uhuru - but I don’t really ship anyone there. And, of course, there’s always Q!

Forever, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Amelia Peabody series, Jeeves & Wooster, The Thin Man movies, Indiana Jones movies, Remington Steele
Archaeology, murder mystery, espionage, general mayhem — any combination of these fandoms and hijinks would make me very happy! I ship Henry Morgan/Abigail Morgan, Amelia Peabody/Emerson, Nick/Nora Charles, Laura Holt/Remington Steele, and Phryne Fisher/Jack Robinson. Some ideas:
  • Nick & Nora and Phryne & Jack all wind up on the same ship, and naturally there’s a murder (and lots of martinis).
  • One of these celebrated detective pairs winds up involved in a garden variety Jeeves & Wooster mystery, thinking (erroneously) that the simple theft of a cow creamer or policeman’s helmet couldn’t possibly be hard to solve.
  • Handwave the space-time continuum and put Indiana Jones with the Peabody/Emerson family in Egypt.
  • Throw the unfortunately immortal Henry Morgan into any time period: he would put a unique twist on Amelia Peabody’s “every year another dead body”. Or imagine Miss Fisher’s delight at a scandalously unclad and undead murder victim.
  • Basically, pair any or many of these fandoms in any way and I’ll be delighted!

Forever & Time Traveler’s Wife
I don’t have anything specific in mind but I would just love a crossover or fusion of these. The parallels are uncanny: a guy named Henry with a mysterious condition, disappearing and reappearing naked, with a unique relationship with time.

Narnia, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Enchanted Forest, Pirates of the Caribbean
  • The magician’s rings or the Telmarines’ island portal give a wonderful opportunity for Narnian crossovers. The Telmarines’ ancestors in our world were pirates — tell me how Jack Sparrow was involved! Or how the four Pevensies stumbled into the Enchanted Forest or Hogwarts while chasing the white stag.
  • Maybe the Room of Requirement or the Vanishing Cabinet opens into the Enchanted Forest, where Severus Snape is forced to be polite in order for his magic to work. Or a Floo trip or portkey gone wrong dumps the Golden Trio or the Marauders into another world.
  • Or give me dinosaurs and sea monsters! I have a soft spot for the stumbling Stygimoloch from the newest Jurassic movie, and any cameo would be a real treat.
  • Again, any combination of any of these fandoms — go wild!

Hogan’s Heroes, Rat Patrol, Agent Carter, Narnia
I love WWII era stories, especially when they involve espionage and sabotage. Any and all combinations of these fandoms would be more than welcome!
  • It would be fun to see the Rats, who have a reputation for the unconventional, needing to deal with the utterly bizarre goings-on at Stalag 13.
  • Or what if Hauptmann Hans Dietrich was visiting or given command of Stalag 13? It wouldn’t take him long to figure out what was going on, but would he put a stop to it or secretly abet it? (I see Dietrich as an honorable man in a bad war. I love stories where he and the Rat Patrol are forced by circumstances to work together, and I love it even more when he helps them out of his own volition and sense of honor.)
  • I also enjoy the idea that Klink and Schultz know more than they let on. I don’t ship anyone in either Rats or Hogan fandoms — unless you throw Marya the Russian into the mix. (She seems to ship herself with everybody, and she likes to get her way, so who am I to say no to that?)
  • For Agent Carter, I’d love to see Peggy shine in her wartime role. I think she’d make a great foil to the mostly-male casts of both Rat Patrol and Hogan’s Heroes. I can see her throwing them all for a loop at her easy acceptance of strange goings-on — and then upping the ante with supernatural funny business. How would they meet? Downed flier in Germany? Mission to a suspiciously active tomb in North Africa?
  • If you feel so inclined to throw Narnia into the mix, I love Spy!Susan, Espionage!Edmund, Soldier!Peter, older-than-they-look Pevensies with inexplicable wartime experience, sneaky Narnian rats and crows, and Rthstewart’s rat-and-crow code (and entire 'verse).
